The “Rhythm” of the Wankhede crowd was electric, but the “Reason” for the silence at the end was a clinical performance by Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In a high-scoring thriller, RCB defeated Mumbai Indians by 18 runs, handing MI their third consecutive loss of the season.

1. The Salt & Kohli Show

RCB started like a whirlwind. Phil Salt was the chief architect of the destruction, smashing 78 off just 36 balls (including a hat-trick of sixes against Mitchell Santner!). Virat Kohli played the perfect anchor with a solid 50 off 38, bringing up his 65th IPL half-century. Their 120-run opening stand set a massive “rhythm” for the innings.

2. Captain’s Knock: Patidar’s Powerplay

If Salt set the stage, RCB captain Rajat Patidar brought the house down. He unleashed absolute carnage, racing to 53 off just 20 balls at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 265. Thanks to a late flourish from Tim David (34*), RCB posted a mountain-sized total of 240/4.

3. The MI Chase: A Lone Fight by Rutherford

Mumbai Indians started with a setback as Rohit Sharma had to retire hurt early on. Despite quick contributions from Hardik Pandya (40) and Suryakumar Yadav (33), the required rate climbed too high. Sherfane Rutherford kept the hopes alive with a spectacular 71 off 31 balls (9 sixes!), but RCB’s bowlers, led by Suyash Sharma and a tight spell from Krunal Pandya, held their nerve to restrict MI to 222/5.
